BlackBerry Protect Description

AI detects and stops attacks before they can be executed, preventing users opening URLs or visiting spoofing webpages that look like legitimate websites. It detects, prevents, and then remediates advanced malicious threats at both the device and application level. Application sandboxing, code analysis, and app-security testing are used to identify grayware and malware. Before being pushed to the device, or the user who is seeking access, all applications are scanned and validated. BlackBerry UEM protects all mobile endpoints. End users do not need to install, log into or maintain third-party applications or manually configure settings. Select a single-point connectivity solution. Download once and distribute locally. Hybrid deployment allows for security-related communication between cloud and local infrastructure, without exposing your network.

    Underrated

    Date: May 05 2023

Summary: Working with Blackberry reps is a pleasure - they are decent, behave like actual human beings and very responsive. Not once did I ever get the RTFM vibe from them.

After a 1 week setup period where the product was just watching files, it was trained up well enough that I only have to address an unknown file (usually a false positive) maybe once every 2 weeks. Sometimes longer. I check in on it every day, so I can say that the post-onboarding period is mostly absent of new unwanted hobbies. I also cannot understate how nice it is that the installation, upgrading and removal of the engine is dependable - I HATE having to reimage a computer because AV failed to update.

Positive: Straightforward interface - it's easy to navigate.
Clients get updated rules quickly. Usually in 5 minutes or less.
Installation, engine upgrade and uninstallation always worked for me - never failed once.
    Works on older OS's.
Used AI-based detection LONG before it was cool.
Fastest of all engines tested for boot time. Browser load time was less fast, but still acceptable.
Has an on-prem edition that works great for air-gapped networks.
    Great support.

Negative: They are slow to release updates for new Mac OSX and M-chip native compatibility. Works fine with Rosetta however.
They don't have a lot of extra add-ons that you might be able to get with Crowdstrike or SentinelOne.
