    Summary: Overall I would strongly recommend spending time getting to know this app under the hood. It’s far more powerful than what can be seen at first glance. Open the application presences window and read a bit in the manual and you’ll see why you will want to try this app. Plus, if you have basic text editing needs, the free tier is a perfect match.

    Positive: When it comes to advanced features for search, text modification and automation, BBEdit delivers unparalleled performance and it’s hard to find a rival on the Mac. It handles enormous GB size documents at ease and has powerful shortcuts and many options for customization.

    Negative: It can be said that it lacks features that would make it a proper integrated development environment, which is why it’s not my editor of choice any longer. It also takes time for the team to add new features to the app. Some may find the interface lacking buttons and visual cues.
