Art of Illusion is an open-source 3D modeling and rendering software. Its capabilities are comparable to those in commercial programs. Highlights include subdivision surface-based modeling tools, skeleton-based animation, and a graphic language for designing procedural textures. Version 3.2.0 was released on January 13, 2021. This version is stable enough to be used for serious animation work. There is now a large documentation section. This section includes the user manual and a variety of tutorials that cover different aspects of the program. The interface is simple, clean, and easy to use. Art of Illusion offers subdivision surface-based modelling tools that can create smooth surfaces from controlmeshes of any shape or structure. You can "sculpt" objects with a powerful set of deformation tools.
