Description

SUPLAN is an innovative drawing application specifically designed for Belgian electricians who need to prepare electrical installation files in accordance with the AREI/RGIE wiring regulations. The software enables users to create a site plan by either drawing electrical symbols directly or importing an existing floor plan from an image or PDF to serve as a background, after which they can place symbols and assign them to specific circuits. In addition to this, SUPLAN can suggest appropriate circuits and a distribution board for user verification, ultimately generating a detailed single-line diagram. Project files can be enriched with various external factors such as room specifications, measurement data, and defect records complete with photographs, along with the ability to visualize the project in 3D; furthermore, users can export all documents collectively as a PDF. For those utilizing compatible iPhone and iPad models equipped with LiDAR technology, SUPLAN offers the unique capability to scan a room and automatically generate an accurate floor plan. The application operates within a web browser and is available as an app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, supporting both Dutch and French languages for user convenience. While it significantly assists in preparing the necessary documentation for inspections, the actual inspection must still be conducted by a certified inspection authority. Users can explore all the features of SUPLAN with a 7-day trial that does not require a payment card, allowing them to fully assess its utility before making a commitment. This trial provides an excellent opportunity to experience how SUPLAN can streamline electrical project planning and compliance.

Description

ZapSketch is an online tool designed specifically for electricians, electrical contractors, and estimators to facilitate the planning of electrical home runs. It allows users to import floor-plan PDFs, draw walls on a blank canvas, or start from a quick sketch, enabling them to place panels, junction boxes, and devices while routing circuits and raceways efficiently. As users modify their layouts, the application automatically measures run lengths and offers insights on preliminary conductor sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, and conduit fill based on the NEC 2023 standards. Users can also access circuit schedules and export their marked-up plan PDFs along with raceway pull schedules for purposes such as estimating, review, and transitioning to the field; however, some export options and unmarked reports necessitate a Pro subscription. Additionally, there are free standalone calculators available for voltage drop, wire sizing, and conduit fill. While ZapSketch serves as a valuable preliminary planning tool, it is essential to note that it should not replace thorough code reviews, engineering judgment, or the verification of actual project conditions. This tool enhances workflow efficiency and supports better project management for electrical professionals.
