PDS is a versatile tool that allows users to create and modify a wide array of flat patterns efficiently. Its user-friendly interface and specially designed tools facilitate a quick and seamless pattern cutting experience. Drawing from the insights of numerous experienced pattern makers, the software simplifies even the most intricate tasks. Users can easily add darts, adjust seams, create fullness, and work with multiple patterns at once in a logical and speedy manner. Moreover, PDS supports the integration of 3D design features, enhancing its functionality. When it comes to clothing, grading is essential, accommodating various sizes like S, M, L, and numerical sizes such as 10, 12, 14, 16, and beyond. The software is noted for its straightforward and intuitive operation, with different sizes clearly color-coded for enhanced visibility. Grading rules can be applied either to individual points or to entire patterns, ensuring that pattern alterations are automatically reflected across all sizes. Additionally, users can export measurements to MS Excel for effective comparison with size charts, making it a practical choice for designers. Overall, PDS stands out as an essential tool for anyone involved in pattern making, combining ease of use with powerful features.
Description
PatternMaker serves as the main application for designing patterns, allowing users to create and subsequently export them into digital files that can be shared online like any other file. This program comes in various versions to accommodate different user needs. MacroGen is the accompanying tool that facilitates the creation of these exported files, referred to as macros. These macros can be tailored with various measurements, enabling users to adjust the patterns for a perfect fit. Execution of these macros requires the PatternMaker software. (Many software applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, also support macros in a format suitable for sharing.) Therefore, to utilize a macro, one must have access to PatternMaker. Additionally, Collection Creator takes multiple macros and organizes them into a cohesive collection, which could consist of themed items like a selection of summer dresses. This functionality not only enhances the user experience but also allows for streamlined design processes across various projects.
