Description
NEPI, or Numurus Edge Platform Interface, is an open-source software platform designed for edge AI applications. It provides approximately 90% of the essential features needed by smart systems right from the start, including hardware drivers, sensor integration, AI model management, event-driven automation, data collection, and a user-friendly browser-based interface. The remaining 10% of functionalities can be developed by your team using low-code scripting, allowing for further customization.
NEPI is built upon the foundations of ROS and ROS 2, functioning entirely at the edge without reliance on cloud services. Its hardware-agnostic nature enables quick installations on any Linux-based machine, such as Raspberry Pi or Ubuntu systems, meaning you can utilize existing hardware without the need for specialized edge devices.
Traditionally, teams invest significant time reconstructing the same infrastructure for each new project, but NEPI eliminates this redundancy by simplifying the process to connecting sensors, executing AI on the resulting data, and triggering appropriate actions. Its deployment spans various sectors, including defense, research, industrial automation, and education, with operational systems already in place at companies like OceanAero, WESMAR, and VideoRay. This versatility and efficiency make NEPI an invaluable tool for teams looking to accelerate their edge AI development.
Description
Once your invention evolves into a tangible product, the Raspberry Pi compute module stands out as a robust, industrial-grade system-on-module that serves as the central processing unit for various hardware, from robots to server racks. In today's landscape, open source has become the standard for driving software innovation across multiple domains—whether it’s in the cloud, at the edge, within containers, or in the realm of IoT; encompassing everything from artificial intelligence and machine learning to robotics, self-driving vehicles, and nanosatellites, leading global corporations are leveraging open source to enhance technology further. The Raspberry Pi operates on the ARM instruction set, similar to your Android or iOS devices, as well as the latest Mac computers. While it may resemble Ubuntu running on a traditional PC, the underlying architecture and device integration offer a completely novel approach. This shift not only empowers developers but also fosters a collaborative environment for continuous improvement in technology.
