LiMon serves as a self-hosted substitute for OpenLM and Flexera FlexNet Manager, specifically designed for teams that require monitoring of engineering license servers without needing a comprehensive IT asset management implementation. This tool efficiently monitors usage across various licensing systems such as FlexLM, RLM, LM-X, and DSLS from a singular on-premises appliance, providing insights into utilization trends, denials, peak concurrency, and generating reports that are ready for audits and renewals. Unlike lmstat, which only displays the current status, LiMon maintains a historical record, allowing users to substantiate previous usage ahead of renewal or audit periods. Installation is straightforward, taking approximately 15 minutes via Docker, DEB, or RPM. Additionally, it operates entirely in an air-gapped mode, eliminating the need for agents on any devices, avoiding cloud dependencies, and ensuring there is no phone-home functionality, making it ideal for environments where security is paramount.
