Description
Hive 2, created by u-he, is a flexible software synthesizer aimed at producing exceptional sound quality while maintaining an efficient workflow. It boasts two oscillators that can create traditional waveforms or 2D wavetables, each able to utilize up to 16x unison and adjustable sub-oscillators. The synthesizer provides three unique sound engines—normal, dirty, and clean—enabling users to customize the tonal character of their audio. Additionally, Hive 2 features an intuitive drag-and-drop modulation assignment system, a modulation matrix with 12 slots that includes modifiers, and four customizable XY control pads for interactive sound shaping. Other noteworthy attributes include an arpeggiator, a step sequencer with real-time recording capabilities, a distinctive 8-step shape sequencer that offers four independent outputs, and a selection of seven effects that can be rearranged, such as distortion, chorus, delay, phaser, EQ, reverb, and compressor. The user interface is adjustable from 70% to 200% in size and comes with an alternative Izmo skin for aesthetic variety. Furthermore, Hive 2 includes more than 2,400 factory presets that are ready for NKS integration, making it a powerful tool for music production. This combination of features makes Hive 2 an attractive option for both novice and professional sound designers alike.
Description
Sound quality is paramount when considering reverb. Verberate is an innovative algorithmic reverb plug-in that authentically emulates real-world acoustics with remarkable accuracy. The initial version of Verberate set a high standard for reverb technology, and with the release of Version 2, the introduction of the Vivid Hall algorithm brings a new level of sophistication. This algorithm incorporates time variance, effectively addressing the rigidity often found in convolution-based reverbs while maintaining the rich, natural reverb tails characteristic of the original Verberate. Real-world acoustical environments exhibit slight variations caused by factors like air movement, the actions of performers, or shifts in the audience, and although these differences might appear minor, their impact on the reverb tail is profound, given the numerous reflections that occur before it dissipates. The Vivid Hall algorithm adeptly captures these random fluctuations, steering clear of undesirable artifacts such as chorus effects or pitch alterations, thus enabling a more authentic simulation of the reverberation found in actual halls. As a result, users can experience a deeper and more immersive soundscapes that enhance their audio creativity.
