Description
FineData.ai serves as a web-scraping API and MCP server designed specifically for developers and AI-agent workflows that require data extraction from either public or authorized web resources. Users can send a URL via REST or an MCP client to obtain page content in various formats, including Markdown, text, links, screenshots, or raw HTML, and they can also request structured JSON by utilizing selectors, a JSON schema, or an extraction prompt. The service includes optional features like browser rendering, proxy routing, targeting specific countries, handling CAPTCHA challenges, and managing asynchronous jobs, making it adaptable for varying page types and collection needs. Among its documented applications are monitoring prices and catalogs, tracking property listings, conducting market research, generating leads, and overseeing search results for users' domains. The pricing model is based on token usage, and users are not charged for unsuccessful scrapes. The API is compatible with programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, in addition to standard HTTP clients, while the MCP server is capable of connecting with various clients, including Cursor and Claude Desktop. This versatility ensures that FineData.ai can cater to a wide range of data scraping requirements, enhancing productivity for developers and data analysts alike.
Description
Parsel is a Python library licensed under BSD that facilitates the extraction and removal of data from HTML and XML documents using XPath and CSS selectors, with the option to integrate regular expressions. To begin, you create a selector object for the HTML or XML content you wish to analyze. After that, you can utilize either CSS or XPath expressions to target specific elements. CSS serves as a styling language for HTML, defining selectors that link styles to designated HTML elements, while XPath is utilized for selecting nodes within XML documents and can also be applied to HTML. Although both CSS and XPath can be used, CSS tends to offer greater readability, whereas XPath provides capabilities that may not be achievable through CSS alone. Built on top of lxml, parsel selectors incorporate some EXSLT extensions and come with pre-registered namespaces available for use in XPath queries. Furthermore, parsel selectors allow for the chaining of selectors, enabling users to primarily select by class using CSS and seamlessly transition to XPath when the situation demands it, enhancing flexibility in data extraction tasks. This dual capability makes parsel a powerful tool for developers working with web data.
