During the accessioning phase, these agents interpret the requisition and formulate the order, transforming intake from a tedious data entry task into a streamlined process. Laboratories can digitize the paper requisition, allowing an agent to extract patient details, required tests, and specimen information into a structured order, which the team can then review and approve without the need for redundant typing. The original scanned document is preserved indefinitely, accompanied by a confidence score for each extracted data point, ensuring accuracy and reliability. For case distribution, the system autonomously directs cases to the appropriate pathologist based on their subspecialty, existing workload, and turnaround demands, eliminating the need for a cumbersome rules engine or manual triage each morning.
