Advance Steel is a specialized steel detailing software that operates within a 3D modeling framework, which ultimately integrates into a document management system. This 3D model is comprised of smart structural components, including beams, plates, bolts, and welds, which can be assembled using Parametric Connection tools that facilitate the duplication of connections throughout the model. Consequently, this model serves as a central hub for generating general arrangement drawings, shop assembly drawings, and part drawings essential for the fabrication process. Additionally, the software possesses features for platework, enabling the creation of intricate folded plate details required for flat pattern development drawings intended for shop applications. The program includes tools for constructing steel frameworks utilizing intelligent macros that accommodate adjustments to overall frame dimensions and section profile selections, all while leveraging Parametric connection tools for standard connection types and the flexibility to design custom connection details tailored for unique circumstances. This comprehensive approach ensures that every stage of the detailing process is streamlined and efficient, ultimately enhancing productivity in steel fabrication projects.
Description
The Folding macro from ToolBox has been crafted by experts who possess extensive experience with brake presses. Our approach considers various factors such as setup time, which is influenced by the longest fold length, the number of folds, the weight and dimensions of the piece, as well as the personnel required to manage the part. The tool generates outputs that include cycle time, setup time, and pricing. To streamline the process, we offer two adjustable settings that encapsulate these variables into percentage adjustments. Modifying the setup override percentage will respectively increase or decrease the setup duration necessary for bending operations; this setup time is a one-time charge irrespective of the bending volume. Consequently, as the quantity of parts that require bending increases, the setup time is distributed over more pieces, leading to a higher per-part cost when dealing with smaller batches and a reduced cost per part for larger orders. Once a drawing is uploaded through our 3D module, ToolBox efficiently identifies the appropriate layers for fold lines, inputs the fold lengths and quantities, and generates a flat DXF file for production. This streamlined process not only enhances productivity but also ensures accuracy in the folding operations.
