Description

Ableton Live is a music production and performance application that combines multitrack recording, audio editing, MIDI sequencing, sound design, and mixing tools. Its Session View enables musicians to launch audio and MIDI clips independently, experiment with musical ideas, and create arrangements during live performances. Arrangement View provides a timeline-based workspace for recording, editing, and organizing complete musical compositions. The software includes virtual instruments, drum machines, samplers, synthesizers, and audio effects for producing and modifying sounds. MIDI editing capabilities support note sequencing, quantization, scale awareness, and tools for generating or transforming melodic and rhythmic patterns. Ableton Live includes audio warping technology for adjusting the timing and tempo of recordings while maintaining synchronization with a project. Its mixing environment provides track routing, automation, equalization, compression, reverb, delay, and other signal processing capabilities. Integration with Ableton Push, MIDI controllers, external instruments, and third-party plugins enables users to incorporate hardware and additional software into their production workflows. Ableton Live is offered in Intro, Standard, and Suite editions, with higher editions providing expanded instrument libraries, effects, and features such as Max for Live and stem separation.
