While serving as volunteers on a school PTA board, we encountered a frustrating and complex tax filing process for our nonprofit. The Form 990, even in its EZ version, felt overwhelming, and the available tools for filing both federal and state forms were lacking in functionality and user-friendliness.
With our backgrounds as engineers experienced in creating high-quality products, we recognized the opportunity to improve this situation. We assembled a dedicated team to develop a user-friendly tax filing service aimed at nonprofits, ensuring it would save valuable time for volunteers and reduce expenses for these organizations.
By utilizing 990.tax, users can effortlessly file their nonprofit's tax returns online, including various forms such as IRS Form 990-N, IRS Form 990-EZ, IRS Form 8868, as well as state-specific forms like CA FTB Form 199, CA DOJ Forms RRF-1, and CT-TR-1. For Hire Leads provides a consistent stream of CSV files that contain information on newly registered, licensed, or recently updated business entities across the U.S. for organizations that cater to these businesses. The data includes various categories such as new trucking carriers, cancellations of trucking insurance, liquor license holders, child-care facilities, contractors, healthcare providers, federal contractors, nonprofit organizations, aircraft owners, newly established LLCs, and entities that have been dissolved. Most of the files are sent out via email every Monday; the NewLapse feed is dispatched on weekday mornings, whereas NewCause is issued on a monthly basis. Clients can select from available state-specific or nationwide files based on the coverage of each feed. The records focus solely on businesses, ensuring that individual names and personal contact information are not included.
