Description

3D Slicer is an open-source software tool that provides a comprehensive platform for visualizing, processing, segmenting, registering, and analyzing medical and biomedical 3D images and meshes. In addition to these features, it supports the planning and navigation of image-guided medical procedures. Functioning as a desktop application, 3D Slicer tackles complex challenges in image computing, specifically tailored for clinical and biomedical contexts. Furthermore, it acts as a development framework that allows for the swift creation and implementation of custom applications for both research and commercial endeavors. The platform is backed by a vibrant community of skilled users and developers who work together to enhance the field of medical computing. Distributed under a BSD-style license, 3D Slicer places no limitations on its use in both academic and commercial settings, but it is important to note that the software is not FDA-approved, placing the onus on users to ensure they meet relevant regulatory requirements. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and encourages the development of unique solutions to meet the evolving needs of the medical field.

Description

tresD DICOM offers a complimentary, browser-based platform for viewing dental CBCT and CT scans in various formats such as DICOM, DICOMDIR, ZIP, or RAR, eliminating the need for installation or user accounts. The software operates locally on the user's machine, ensuring that files remain private and are not sent to a remote server for processing. This viewer is equipped with features like 3D volume rendering, the ability to generate multiplanar slices, panoramic images, tooth cross-sections, airway and TMJ visualizations, as well as tools for comparing two CBCT scans. Additionally, users can align intraoral scans saved in STL, PLY, or OBJ formats and can export skull and skin mesh models as STL files. The platform also allows for the creation of simulated cephalometric images and the generation of reports in PDF or PowerPoint formats. Tailored for use by dental professionals and students for educational purposes, the measurements obtained are only indicative, and it is important to note that it is not classified as a medical device. Furthermore, this tool enhances collaboration in dental education by allowing users to easily share visual data with peers and mentors.
