TunnelBear Description

Experience a safer internet browsing environment with TunnelBear, which encrypts your connection to safeguard your online activities across any network. Simply launch the TunnelBear application, choose a country, and toggle the switch to activate it. Once connected, TunnelBear operates discreetly in the background, ensuring your data remains protected. Public WiFi networks can be a hotbed for hackers who might steal sensitive information like passwords and personal data; however, TunnelBear effectively mitigates this risk to protect your security. Additionally, internet service providers and network administrators typically have the ability to monitor all your online actions, but with TunnelBear activated, your activities remain hidden from their prying eyes. You may also encounter content that is geographically restricted; TunnelBear can alter your virtual location, granting you access to this content no matter where you are. Furthermore, ad services often utilize your IP address to track your browsing habits, yet TunnelBear prevents this by providing you with a new IP address. In cases where certain governments impose restrictions on popular websites and applications, TunnelBear can seamlessly bypass these barriers by modifying your virtual location, allowing for unrestricted access. This level of privacy and freedom enhances your overall internet experience.

    TunnelBear

    Date: Nov 10 2020

Summary: Overall, it has been effectively easy to access websites that are prohibited in our local IPs without having to incur even a penny.

Positive: I like that TunnelBear has both mobile and PC applications.
It has a lot of servers, which they allocate at fair cost estimation.

Negative: I do not have aspects that let me down while using TunnelBear.

    Get Anonymous by single click

    Edited: Jun 06 2020

Summary: TunnelBear VPN helps me to secure my personal data on internet. It adds lots of encryption and blocks trackers to get my personal information. These make it great to use as a VPN.

Positive: Easy to activate VPN, just a single click and you are good to go. Very modern user interface. Gives you a back door to access blocked sites.

Negative: It has very low data limit on free plan. You need to upgrade to connect further.

    TunnelBear Review

    Date: Nov 24 2020

Summary: Overall, it has been remarkably great to access all the geo locked websites from anywhere with TunnelBear over the internet.

Positive: I am able to access websites that are restricted from my local IPs from anywhere with TunnelBear.
It offers free Mbs for referring and tweeting them.

Negative: Unavailability of a lot of servers is the biggest issue so far.

    Cute UI but slow

    Date: Jul 23 2022

Summary: While it has a nice user interface with cute bear animations, and has spent a lot of advertising money on YouTube, TunnelBear is not the greatest VPN out there. For the price, there are much faster VPNs with more features.

    Positive: - cute interface
    - user friendly and very simple
    - generous free data cap (if you retweet their ads)

Negative: - very slow at times
    - not a lot of choice in terms of location, and very little redundant nodes
    - doesn't get around region-locked content
    - expensive compared to the competition

    Questionable and slow

    Date: Nov 10 2020

Summary: It's okay for basic purposes, but don't expect more than that. For what it is and its price, it's not bad and honestly, you could just stick to the free version is getting around blocks is all you need. If you want a more secure VPN or lots of region options, this isn't for you. The bears are cute though and I did enjoy watching the little animations, but they really don't add anything to the service beyond nice aesthetics and friendly atmosphere.

Positive: It's got a free version and the paid version isn't that expensive. TunnelBear puts a lot into their presentation with their cutesy bear animations and feels very modern and for more basic users just looking to get around region blocks to watch a video on YouTube or something similar. For most people, what it offers may be good enough. I used both the free and paid versions for quite a while, and never had any issues with paying or canceling when I did stop using it.

Negative: When you do use it, expect your internet speed to slow down to an absolute crawl. There aren't many regions you can switch between. After a while, I was curious how well it was actually masking my location and while I could usually get around region-locked content, doing some tests made it obvious my location wasn't completely being hidden. If you're really interested in seriously increasing privacy, something like this isn't for you.

    TunnelBear: Great VPN tool

    Date: Nov 08 2020

Summary: My overall overview is awesome since I use TunnelBear to access websites that are locked on my IP address.

Positive: I like that TunnelBear offers free MBs for referring other users and tweeting them on Twitter.
It is affordable and offers a lot of plans.

Negative: I don't like how it has few servers and they don't offer more than one server for a single location.

    Great tool, at first.

    Date: Apr 10 2020

Summary: I looked up reviews on VPNs that are the best for the price and TunnelBear came back near the top. I used it in free version for a while when I travel overseas and found it to be good and worth the paid version. A year later, I found myself not switching it on because when I did, my throughput slowed down significantly. I have since canceled my subscription and only keep the free version installed if I need it in a pinch.

Positive: Easy interface and easy to pick which country you want to tunnel through. Free version is enough to get by if you only use it once or twice a month and is full featured minus GB limit.

Negative: They say you get free GB from doing things such as sharing, posting or referring but I never got a single increase. Emailed their customer service about it and never got any resolution.

    Won't Let You Cancel!

    Date: Jan 31 2021

Summary: It was really easy to sign up, and give them my payment information but it was impossible to cancel and stop them from charging me even when I did it early. You can't trust them with your payment information.

    Positive:

Negative: Not only is TunnelBear slow and disconnects a lot, but even when I canceled 4 days early, they charged me for another month.
