Square Card Reader Description

Square offers a complimentary credit card reader that seamlessly integrates with its free Point of Sale app, enabling anyone to accept payments through their smartphones or tablets. By signing up for Square, you will receive your card reader in the mail at no cost, and there are no hidden commitments or lengthy contracts involved. The transaction fee is 2.6% plus 10¢ for each swipe, applicable to major credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. You can receive your funds as quickly as the next business day. Square provides two types of magstripe readers: one designed for the headphone jack and another for the Lightning connector, ensuring you can choose the one that suits your device. Payments can be processed directly at the register, on the move, via invoices, or by manually inputting card details. The Square Point of Sale app is not only free but also user-friendly, providing all the necessary tools to effectively run your business. To enhance security, credit card information is encrypted during the swipe, and Square ensures that no card data remains on your device after the transaction is completed. This comprehensive system empowers small businesses to manage their sales and customer interactions efficiently.

    Decent system

    Date: Jul 28 2022

Summary: Overall, very simple system to use but the updates make the use ability a pain with continuous crashes or the complete inability of use with older software version electronics.

Positive: I like that the input of new products is simple, direct and without much hitch. Additionally the payment processing screen is pretty simple.

Negative: It’s pretty inconvenient that with each new update, if not done right away, the older version will crash. Additionally - with the newest versions/updates you have to get a newer model of iPad, which you wouldn’t know until you have to call customer service and they inform you of such.

A great move for our school

    Date: Sep 03 2021

Summary: The families at our school have loved the flexibility the Square portal offers, and as admin we love the diversity of things we can use it for: fundraising, daily use, and random fees. Personally, I like how easy it is to pull a transaction report and see how easy it is to determine who has paid their dues.

Positive: We used a number of payment platforms before switching to Square. It's been great for our school to have something with a number of ways to collect payments. We take parent credit cards for athletics or spirit wear in the front office using the terminal, and can take payments for student fees, field trips, and extracurriculars in our online store.

Negative: Our website used to be powered through Squarespace, and we had to use a third-party software called JotForm in order to connect the two platforms. One of the things we wanted to do was collect donations, and we couldn't embed a Square item directly.

You can charge/collect your money from anywhere!

    Date: Apr 19 2022

Summary: I have just recently started using it and I really like it. It's a quick alternative to using other form of payments to collect money from my clients.

Positive: When I signed up for Square, they sent via mail a complimentary square device to plug into my iPhone to take payments on the go. You can also take payments on line. I have linked up Apptoto (to schedule consultations online) with square and my clients are able to schedule and confirm their own appointments and make a payment using square. It's very simple and easy to use.

Negative: Ha! Wished they gave more complimentary square devices to plug to additional iPhone. Honestly, there are no cons for this product.

    Used for my Lularoe

    Date: Feb 28 2022

Summary: Love Square and love how easy it is to use for so many various needs. There were some other options but they don't compare to the simplicity.

Positive: I used to use square to do all of my purchases for Lularoe, when that was a fleeting thing. Worked really well and was easy for the customers to use at flea markets.

Negative: Needs stable wifi but that is understandable. You can't process payments via card without it anywhere.
