Session Description

Session is a messenger that utilizes end-to-end encryption to safeguard user privacy and minimize sensitive metadata, catering to individuals who desire complete confidentiality and a break from any surveillance. With Session, users can create accounts without the need for a phone number or email, ensuring their anonymity. The platform refrains from data collection, eliminating the risk of breaches. Communication occurs through an onion routing network, ensuring that no traces are left behind. The transparency of Session’s code allows anyone to inspect, audit, and contribute to its development. By operating without a central point of failure, it becomes significantly more resilient against shutdown attempts. Whether you want to converse privately with a few friends or broadcast to a larger audience, you have the freedom to choose. Closed groups enable discussions with up to 20 friends while maintaining the same level of encrypted security as one-on-one conversations. For larger gatherings, open groups allow connections with an unlimited number of participants. Additionally, when text falls short, voice messages provide a more intimate way to communicate, ensuring that your sentiments are conveyed accurately. With such versatile options, Session is designed to enhance your messaging experience while keeping your data secure.

Session is Innovative and The future

    Date: Apr 02 2023

Summary: Love it. Wickr, you were my love but you sold out, now you're no more encrypted or private than Facebook.

Positive: I found session 2 years ago when it was just put out and was in love, no sign up or logs, top notch encryption and u can dump and create new accounts as quick and easy as pushing a button. Session is the future.

Negative: It was buggy, but they were working on it. I also noticed something, called sentinel? A file that someone was trying to send me, in the past I've ran into it and believe it's a form of spyware, probably just the person I was chatting with, but idk...

    An Australian company

    Date: Sep 15 2022

Summary: This app needs a history of no incident going back 5-10 years before it should be relied upon for high stakes security needs.

Positive: The range of features and the actual current demonstrated capabilities and omissions are grand. Open source is critically important and their protocol is based upon tried and true protocols from safe developers.

It's a shame you can't trust their situation as an entity - as all of this can become irrelevant immediately in the blink of an eye under a number of plausible - likely, even - scenarios. This weakness must be addressed.

Negative: You won't find privacy from apps developed in Australia or by Australians. Period. This is very suspicious and what is secure today may be very quickly made insecure and revelatory retrospectively in one quick patch. Do not trust any company at the mercy of Australian lawmakers. Because even they have no say over the matter if push comes to shove.
