It worked but they got the basics wrong Date: Mar 09 2025
Summary: I would thoroughly check how transfer failures are handled, that the path is included in the error logs produced, and the availability of support of competing products, or for improvements of RiceDrive in these areas, before deciding what solution to use in the future.
Positive: With $10USD one-month only subscription I transfer 0.8TB in about 36 hours from OneDrive to Dropbox resulting in about 50 transfer errors (out of 250k files=0.02% failures)
Negative: The error log didn't include paths for file names, so we had to laboriously find and check every instance of every file name that failed to transfer to find and manually fix the transfer error. I belatedly learnt that the 'restart' icon is misnamed, as it doesn't restart the transfer, rather it only re-tries the files that failed to transfer in the errors logs, which is exactly what we wanted it to do, but because it is misnamed we didn't try it because from the name we thought it was going to restart from scratch and potentially just create a different set of problems and errors. It would be better if the error log fully identified each file by including the path, and the ‘restart’ icon be made more prominent and labelled “Retry files that failed to transfer”
