Quantum Leap Description
Quantum Leap Software Solutions (QLSS), was founded in 1978. Thom Underwood, was a partner in a jewelry manufacturing/showroom business at the time and had just founded the jewelry appraisal company San Diego Gemological Laboratory in San Diego, California. Thom sought to simplify the tedious appraisal process by looking at computerization, which led to QLSS's Professional Appraisal System (PAS). The 1987 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show was the first time PAS for DOS was released to the public. QLSS released the first Windows version in 1993. This was another breakthrough for jewelry appraisers. PAS has remained at forefront of jewelry appraisal technology for decades with features that offered unprecedented flexibility and stability to jewelry appraisers around the world.
