Sentry allows you to set and enforce specific privilege levels on data for authenticated users on a Hadoop cluster. Sentry works with Apache Hive Metastore/HCatalog and Apache Solr. Sentry is a pluggable authorization engine that can be used with Hadoop components. It allows you to define authorization rules that validate access requests to Hadoop resources by users or applications. Sentry is modular and can support authorization for a wide range of data models in Hadoop.
