Microsoft Translator Description
Microsoft Translator allows users to translate both text and speech, facilitate translated conversations, and even access AI-driven language packs for offline use. You can communicate in over 60 languages by speaking, typing, or using Windows Ink to write by hand. The app supports real-time translated discussions with up to 100 participants, each using their own devices, whether it's Windows, iOS, Android, or Kindle. You can initiate or join a conversation seamlessly through Cortana. Additionally, it is capable of translating images, such as signs and menus, and you can download specific languages for offline translation using advanced neural machine translation technology. To assist with pronunciation, you can listen to your translated phrases. Sharing translations with other applications is easy, and you can pin your most commonly used translations for quick access later. By pinning Translator to your Start menu, you can even learn a new word or phrase every day. This tool effectively breaks down language barriers at home, in the workplace, or anywhere else you may find yourself. Engage in conversations regardless of the language spoken, chat with others, share experiences, and foster connections. With Microsoft Translator, navigating conversations while traveling abroad becomes a breeze, enhancing your ability to interact with locals and enjoy new cultures.

Summary: Google Translate free version was much better and Microsoft Translate appears to me to have relied on people's dislike of Google.
However, Google Translate free version has now changed and is as useless as this one. It's all about money and user experience is way down the list of priorities.Positive: Can't say anything positive about the free version, clearly deigned badly to encourage users to pay for the subscription version.
Negative: The free version is pretty awful.

It will only allow a very limited number of characters, insufficient to even translate a short news story.
It is far from user friendly. It seems that Microsoft have tried to make it look unnecessarily fancy. Paste and copy are not obvious and the display shows minimal characters whilst typing.
Even the feedback link doesn't work, taking you to their Q&A page instead. Does anybody at Microsoft even test these things? -

A Great Translator Date: May 12 2022
Summary: Overall, it's a great alternative to Google Translate if you like to avoid Google's services. The conversation mode is a huge selling feature along with their neural machine translation that gives you more natural sounding translations rather than formal sounding translations.
Positive: I like the accuracy of the text to text, text to speech and the conversation mode. There is a lot of availability of the major languages and some minor languages.
Conversation mode is wonderful and an easy experience.Negative: Could have more availability for smaller languages would be great. The image to text translation can be great for some languages and okay for others.
