    The future cloud!

    Date: Aug 18 2020

Summary: Today you can manage entire companies remotely with the help of services like Azure. They have so many features built-in and hosted on the web that you will never have to look elsewhere.

Positive: - Azure just makes the whole Microsoft ecosystem complete. There's always the built-in OS support that small businesses look for since it takes away a lot of headaches for the non-techy users.

Negative: - Definitely requires a decent level of IT expertise to set up. If you don't have that, you'll be wasting time in training.

    Good Cloud solution

    Date: Jul 21 2020

    Positive: Good management interface
    Quite easy for beginners
    Full of services and features
    Good performance, scalability & availability
Free credits for trying out Azure

Negative: Needs better documentation or tips especially for advanced features.
More expensive than other cloud solutions like AWS or GCP.

Not a Viable Solution for Nonprofits

    Edited: Sep 10 2020

Summary: A very poor way to go for any nonprofit unless they are loaded with money (are there such things?). Not a viable service at all. Less than halfway through our first year on Azure, we now have to leave it. That is not what any nonprofit wants to have to do.

Positive: The interface was fabulous compared, for example, to AWS. Much easier for a non-technical person to look through. A lot of online documentation that was very user-centric.

Negative: Azure was a dreadful mistake for a small nonprofit. Microsoft proudly gave us an allowance of credits that would renew annually; USD3500. And that was kind. But the viability of it stopped on that first day.

Doing nothing but having an empty, unconfigured SQL database started - not used, just started ready to want to use - in just 4 months of the first 12 months, we had consumed the entire credit allowance.

There was no human help to get things done, so this is not friendly for a startup. You need to really know everything like a DevOps knows before you start.

This is not a solution for a nonprofit needing to actually do anything, and with limited technical people.
