MPlayer Description

MPlayer is a movie player that runs on many platforms. It can play most MPEG/VOB and AVI formats. VideoCD, SVCD and DVD can be viewed. MPlayer's wide range of output drivers is another great feature. It supports X11, Xv and SVGAlib. fbdev, AAlib and DirectFB are all supported. However, you can also use GGI, SDL (and these way all their drivers), VESA (on any VESA compatible card, even if you don't have X11!) ATI, Matrox, 3Dfx, and other low-level card-specific drivers are also available! Many of them support hardware scaling or software scaling so you can watch movies in fullscreen. MPlayer supports the display of MPEG through certain hardware MPEG decoder boards such as the Siemens DVB and DXR2 (Hollywood+),
