Lexia PowerUp Literacy Description
Lexia® PowerUp Literacy® is designed to enhance literacy development for students in grades 6–12 who are at a heightened risk of falling short of College- and Career-Ready Standards. It has been demonstrated to be as much as five times more effective than typical middle school reading interventions, allowing students to achieve several years' worth of progress within just one academic year. By the time students reach grades 6–12, they are expected to transition from the process of learning how to read to engaging in reading for learning. Despite this expectation, assessments such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) have consistently indicated a significant opportunity gap, revealing that only approximately one-third of eighth-grade students are reading at or above proficient levels. With reading being the primary medium of most secondary education curricula, many students face the risk of not realizing their full academic capabilities. Fortunately, PowerUp addresses this issue, drawing on over three decades of experience in delivering effective Structured Literacy programs; therefore, Lexia's literacy specialists tailored PowerUp specifically to enhance student learning outcomes in a meaningful way. By focusing on personalized learning paths, PowerUp ensures that every student has the chance to overcome literacy challenges and thrive in their educational journey.

Lexia is a waste of money for administrators Date: May 19 2022
Summary: Overall I do not recommend Lexia for administrators or students; please look for a better program worth your money. I politely prithee and beseech the Lexia PowerUp company to take criticism and update their musty, old-school, not modernly-adjusted, non-aesthetically pleasing layout, features, and art.
Positive: The videos were decent. They explained what the topic was, and some videos were surprisingly well made. There is visible room for improvement but that is the least of my concern.
Negative: Aesthetic-wise: Lexia's websites layout looks straight out of 2012. Not to mention the art style for units look horrible, I wish they could do something cute with animals or at least something more decent-looking if they are going for the realistic art style. The theme colors are blue, green, yellow, and orange which does not sit right with me, the palette does not match at all and is one of the least aesthetically pleasing programs I have ever seen.

Technical-wise: The questions are impossible if you do not have access to headphones. I have to guess most of the time because the videos do not provide instructions, just the meaning of the topic. In addition to this, you have to have an abundant level of patience to complete any single unit. (If you are a user without headphones, this will happen:) After clicking an answer, you have to wait an average of 10 seconds in aggravating silence before you can get to the next question. During this time, it explains the instructions only audibly for the next question, so sometimes it takes longer than 10 seconds. I entreat Lexia to place instructions at the top of the question, instead of an audible disarray that makes users ferociously click their keyboards. Furthermore, many questions are set up ambiguously and do not explain what you got wrong (unless again, you have headphones.) I have found the unit restarts sometimes if I answer one or two questions incorrectly, but other times I just lose my answer streak. Not to mention that you loose your progress if you forget to log out, instead of just closing the tab.The program is a discombobulating experience.
