A great BIM software for Landscape Design

    Date: Feb 21 2023

Summary: I think it is a great BIM application to design landscape architecture. It is efficient and its commands make my workflow easy.

Positive: It makes my workflow faster and changes in the project are easy to do. It has a huge Plant Database with thousands of species which you can filter depending on their characteristics and it makes my live easier while working with terrains. Also, you have different 3D and 2D representation for all the objects so that you are drawing the 3D and the 2D at once.

It has Grasshopper components in Rhino, which means you can work with BIM landscape objects parametrically to manage complex geometries or to automate your workflows.

Negative: Irrigation tools could be improved. There are some commands to create pipes and sprinklers but maybe there should be more complex tools for this.

Its integration with Rhino and AutoCAD makes it even more versatile, allowing the creation of complex landscapes with a great amount of detail in 3D and photorealistic images.

Negative: Irrigation design tools are very basic and should be further developed in the future.

All we need for our landscape design projects in studio!

    Edited: Feb 09 2023

Summary: Great tool for landscape design with all we need from A to Z. Its solution for Revit is promising too.

Positive: We could achieve various layouts and settings from the same model.
The quantity takeoffs are great and time saving.
The render compatibility is perfect, even though the Rhino rendered display is good enough.

Negative: The irrigation tool is not very specialized. There are a few details there not corresponding with a professional irrigation designer.
