DBR for Db2 uses storage-aware backup processes to ensure data can be backed up instantly, without affecting running applications. It quickly performs data recovery using storage-based, fast replication facilities to restore backups and invoke Db2 recovery processes simultaneously to minimize downtime and reduce recovery time. DBR for Db2 uses a system-level backup method that allows Db2 system backups to be used in multiple recovery purposes. This saves CPU, I/O and storage resources which in turn helps to lower overall costs. A validation feature automatically verifies that Db2 backups have been completed and are available for recovery. This ensures data can be restored at all times. DBR for Db2 scans for Db2 systems and then analyzes them to give configuration advice for data set layouts. The solution can also move data sets to accommodate Db2 system-level back up methods, if necessary.
