A go link is a convenient way for users to enter a brief and easy-to-remember URL, such as go/hr, instead of a lengthy and complex web address in their browser. The browser utilizes either an extension or DNS to translate this short link into an address that connects to Goto Tools' servers, which then forwards the browser to the complete URL. Goto Tools offers a system for creating these "go links," enabling individuals within an organization to generate easy-to-recall links to frequently visited sites. The idea of "go links" has its origins in the early days of AOL, which implemented keyword reservations to facilitate easier navigation. This concept was later adopted and expanded upon within Google, where it became widely utilized. For companies that utilize Single Sign-On (SSO), creating go links that direct users to the SSO login page can enhance the user experience by eliminating unnecessary login prompts before redirecting to the SSO portal. Additionally, link owners have the ability to modify or remove their links as needed. Furthermore, they can also designate additional owners by simply editing the link and adding the email addresses of other users they wish to grant access.
