Code Browser Description

Code Browser is a versatile folding text editor available for both Linux and Windows platforms, aimed at organizing various types of text files, particularly source code, in a hierarchical manner. By enhancing the efficiency of navigating through source code, it significantly simplifies the process. While Code Browser is particularly beneficial for managing extensive projects, it also proves handy for editing shorter files like CSS. It eliminates the frustration of scrolling through lengthy code by providing a more structured view. Additionally, it features syntax highlighting for all major programming languages, with the option to incorporate custom syntax highlighting as well. Although originally intended for programming tasks, Code Browser is versatile enough to assist with plain text outlining or gaining insights into existing codebases. Furthermore, I've created a dedicated page with tips on maximizing the benefits of the folding feature. This makes it an invaluable tool for both novice and experienced developers alike.

    Easiest way to write code

    Date: Sep 02 2023

Summary: I have used many text editors, some of them with lots more "features" and bells and whistles, but when I want to do serious development of program, I always go to Code Browser because it lets me write code naturally and evolve the concepts easily. Any phrase I like, any word, anything can be a link to an entire world of code (and further links) below it. So writing code is super easy because the editor is supporting the way human beings think (not just how they use a particular coding language).

Positive: This is how life with Code Browser is:
    Start writing code
    Initialization
    Globals
Main loop to do requested tasks
    Opening screen
    Do task A
    Do task B
    ...etc.

Each of the above is a link to an entire tree of code going as deep as you need.
When it's been three years since you've looked at this source and you need to add a feature to task B, look how easy it is to find your way to the place you need! Code Browser is the only editor that lets you create your own hierarchy just the way you want it, just the way you think, no troubles.
No other editor lets you do this. Every other editor wants to decide for you what gets folded and what doesn't (usually by looking at the code itself...but code isn't how ANYONE outlines and solves programming problems).

Negative: No one you know is using this wonderful program or has even heard of it. Everything about the program depends on one guy who wrote this editor in a language that no one (except him) uses. So, you get what you get.
