Ampersand Health provided an 8-week support program for IBD patients who suffer from chronic pain and fatigue. The average ACT survey score of the patients who completed the program significantly improved (n=21; p0.0001). The programme helped participants to accept and improve their psychological flexibility, learn more about chronic symptoms, feel less alone, and live a fulfilled life despite continuing pain and fatigue. The study found that fatigue and chronic pain levels did not change as expected. The programme had a positive impact on symptoms perceptions, according to self-reported data. The trial was able to measure symptoms and disease activity using a validated Patient Report Outcome Measure.
