Blurt.blog Description

Blurt has transformed the landscape of social media by creating a dynamic and evolving social economy that incentivizes users for expressing their opinions. This innovative platform establishes a fresh type of attention economy. One of the many sites utilizing the Blurt blockchain and its associated BLURT cryptocurrency is Blurt.blog. These platforms engage with the Blurt blockchain to both input and retrieve content, securely storing this information in an unalterable blockchain ledger while rewarding users with digital tokens known as BLURT. Each day, the Blurt blockchain generates new BLURT tokens, contributing to a community's "rewards pool." Users receive these tokens based on the engagement their content garners, including the votes it accrues and those they cast for others. Those with a higher balance of tokens, termed "Blurt Power," possess the ability to significantly affect the distribution of the rewards pool, thereby enhancing their role within the community. This system not only fosters active participation but also encourages a diverse exchange of ideas among users.

    Pale fork of existing projects

    Edited: Apr 22 2022

Summary: I've tried it for a while, but it can't even begin to compare to Hive. If you want a big community, a lot of dApps, and an abuse resistant system, Blurt is definitely not the place.

Positive: - Relies on stable code from Hive and Steem. That's pretty much the only pro I see and it doesn't originate from them.

    Negative: - Tiny community
    - Basically no dApps
    - No downvoting favors abuse
    - Continuously attacks other communities

    So toxic

    Date: Apr 21 2022

Summary: Stay away, far away, just a bunch of cry babies and self voting. There is nothing of value on blurt unless you like to hear grown men cry.

Positive: Got a bunch of free tokens during the airdrop which I sold for a decent amount of money before the price tanked.

Negative: Toxic, endless crying about not getting rewards on Hive.

    Hate against Free Opinion

    Date: Apr 05 2022

Summary: You better look for another platform if you are looking for a blog provider. It has become a very narrow-minded and hostile environment since some of the founders no longer have time for the platform.

Positive: Once it was a great platform to exchange ideas and get to know like-minded people. Some developers are very much behind it moving forward.

Negative: Over the last time a massively hostile mood of the platform operators and some programmers towards the top investors and the entire German community has developed and this has caused many to leave the platform including myself. I can therefore not recommend to enter there.

    Interesting experiment, but very limited

    Date: Apr 25 2022

Summary: Blurt was created as an alternative to Steemit and Hive. Steemit got corrupted and centralised in the Justin Sun takeover. Hive is where the action is and it is decentralised. Blurt may also be decentralised, but lacks real development and activity. Some people are milking the rewards as they know they cannot be downvoted for doing so.

I would suggest Hive if you want more than Blurt offers. The downvoting is not as bad as some will make out.

Positive: I know everyone will say 'no downvotes!' If being judged like that scares you then this may be the place for you.

Negative: It seems the basic blogging site is all there is. There are no games and no other tokens to invest in. The site is based on Steemit, which has not evolved much. Not many exchanges trade the Blurt tokens. The price is very low with very little trading going on.

Every action has a cost in BLURT. That is intended to minimise spam and abuse, but may be an issue if you are not making much.

Has it's issues but also potential.

    Date: Apr 22 2022

Summary: Overall Blurt works. it does what it sets out to do which is have no downvotes and be simpler to understand.

But development is slow or none existent, the codebase is a mess. (I'm actually in the process of trying to fix it).

But there is potential to see if a fee based no downvote social blockchain can actually work.

Positive: Forked from Hive/Steem, Can follow their improvement where applicable.
    No downvotes, less drama.
No Resource credits, uses traditional fee system, easier to understand.
No stable coin, easier to understand and maintain.

Negative: No downvotes, Abuse could be a problem.
    Not many Dapp.
    Small Community, low usage.
    Development is... messy.

    Blurt Review

    Date: Apr 24 2022

Summary: My experience using blurt has been pretty nice. Sometimes I get good traction especially when I signed up newly. Other times it's not moving swiftly and I experience less engagements. But what I find remarkable is that through the micro blogging very less privileged people have been encouraged to embrace technology and content writing, while also making money no matter how little.

Positive: Blurt is one remarkable enterprising platform that offers users reward for quality content.
It's a very easy to use application and encourages innovation and originality in sharing content.

Negative: Sometimes the earning potential is really low and is dependent on the upvotes. You may have great content and spend a lot of time developing them but if you don't get as much upvotes as possible you don't earn much especially if your upvoters have little voting powers.

    The Place Of No Censorship

    Date: Apr 23 2022

Summary: I enjoy using Blurt. The freedom of expression is all that matters to every writer and I hope the blockchain improves.

Positive: I love writing and the community on Blurt has made it easy for me to express myself in any form. There's no room for downvotes or censorship. It's a free world.

Negative: I understand Blurt blockchain is still growing but it lacks a certain warmth...no friendliness....once a post is written, you are lucky to get votes and worse, there is no interaction in the comment section.

    Blockchain based social media

    Date: Mar 30 2022

Summary: Blurt.blog is one of the three blockchains which has forked from Steem and shares many functionality with its peers.

All Blurt blog posts are stored on a public ledger and can't be deleted. This is something to consider when using SteemIt.

Blurt postings are monetised based on the upvotes received and compared to SteemIt and Hive it is easier for new users to get enough upvotes to pass the 2ç minimum payout threshold.

Positive: • Content is kept on the blockchain can't be deleted.
    • Own cryptocurrency with very low transaction fees.
    • Community driven through elected witnesses.
    • Markdown support to create feature rich blog postings.
    • Monetisation though cryptocurrency.
    • Support for Groups/Community/Tribes support
    • API for automation.
    • Multiple user interfaces possible.
    • Open Source.

Negative: • Content can still be hidden in the user interface.
    • Whales dominate the blockchain trough the delegated proof of stake.
    • Opening accounts is complicated.
    • While free accounts are available a small one-off investment (≈5$) is suggested to get your account going.
