    Reliable Confusion

    Date: Apr 07 2022

Summary: Bitdefender's security came highly recommended, and it has lived up to the hype in our environment, protecting us from a variety of threats. As far as I know, nothing has gotten through.
But the admin interface has been difficult to learn, even after 4 years. Functions are not grouped logically, but split into weird, dissimilar separations. For example, past threats and quarantine are in completely different locations.
And notifications are extremely limited. I can schedule a report at regular intervals to be emailed to me, but it has to be downloaded and then uncompressed before I can view it. And each topic requires this separately. It REALLY needs an option to email administrators immediately (like most other SaaS consoles) when an event occurs (such as hostile software is detected).
So although I know my clients are protected, with BitDefender GravityZone I struggle to get a handle on what has happened, to whom, when, and what action I need to take. We are a small business of 25 clients, so maybe this scales up better for the enterprise, but for me, a one-man IT department with hands in everything, I have to content myself with the fact that "it just works." Worse things have happened.

    Positive: Good Security.
    Simplicity - low client configuration.
Scanning Options - Quick, Full, Custom.
    Status Indicator.

Negative: Simplicity - confusing & disjointed admin interface.
    Weak notifications.
