New tool with a lot of potential Date: Apr 07 2022
Summary: For being the first version of the tool it does a decent job. Don't expect a perfect result when you auto removes the hesitations. You will need to go through the sound and restore the sound here and there. But in total, it saves you time. I do hope they will support more accents in the future, address some of the current flaws, and also save processed data so you can use the features without being online all the time.
Positive: 1. Easy to auto remove audio from hesitations, repeated or superfluous words.
2. UI is easy to understand.
3. Saves time.Negative: 1. Not possible to sit off-line on e.g. an aircraft and work with it (even if you have prepared the file while you were online, and plan to finish the job while you are offline). That was a real bummer when I had planned to use an 18h long flight to prepare a bunch of training videos

2. Not good at interpreting Indian accents. I have been preparing training sessions with a voice-over from a colleague of Indian descent. The transcription feature is not doing a very good job. But the result is good enough to continue processing the sound.
3. The basic waveform editor is ok, but it lacks some standard features. Like marking a specific part of the sound and only playback the marked part
4. The link between Camtasia and Audiate didn't work well. Using the sound transfer feature from Audiate and Camtasia results in incomplete wave files. But I mitigate the issue by using the export feature and then importing it manually into Camtasia. Of course, the bug has been reported to TechSmith support.
