Summary: EC2 is probably the most important service in the AWS suite and rightly so. It is a highly customizable server solution on AWS cloud that lets you spin up a new instance or scale up instantly.
Positive: High availability.
Seamless integration with other AWS services.
GPU instances available for graphically-intensive tasks.
Lots of customizable options.
Included in the free tier of AWS.
Pay as you use pricing model.
Better pricing than competitors (like Azure).Negative: It may take time for new users to set it up as there are lot of options and no 'wizard' setup guide.

Summary: Amazon EC2 forms the backbone of Amazon Web Services. It is one of the best (if not the best) service to run virtual instances on cloud. It has multiple options to choose from based on speed, memory and other requirements, making it cost-effective.
Positive: Easy to setup & use.
Various categories of hardware with multiple pricing options.
Highly scalable with Auto Scaling Groups.
Large number of pre-built machine images (AMIs).
Ability to create custom images.
Secure & high availability.Negative: Although there has been a recent overhaul of the interface, there could be more improvements to make various options and features easier to understand and use.
