    Atom: A Great Tax Service

    Date: Nov 29 2022

Summary: Atom is a great system for Tax Professionals, in particular it makes for a great responsive asset for receptionist and tax professionals for handling client information, files, secure transfer of documents and for the most part a nice internal messaging system for internal staff.

Positive: Atom provides a wealth of features to aid in the operation of a modern professional tax office. In particular, the instant messaging system is nice, the aesthetic of it is a bit dated but it works as it should. The system provides in a clear UI, information about the clients including any potential notes about the client set in the past, instructions for how to handle the return, prior year documents and returns and much more. The system is also useful for billing purposes in terms of keeping track of which clients need to pick up or pay for their returns and how they have paid.

Negative: At the time of usage, the software had some glitches that when trying to save contact information would wipe out the current information if inputted incorrectly in certain scenarios. The company I worked for did not have this integrated into their tax preparation software and used it mainly for front desk and customer relations. Besides this and some minor UI issues with integrating third party services there was little issues with the program. My only other complaint was the UI for direct messages seemed dated.
