ARVIS Description
ARVIS (Augmented Reality Visualization and Information System), a wearable and self-contained surgical guide, is designed to help orthopedic surgeons perform total hip, total leg, and unicompartmental arthroplasty procedures. ARVIS uses cameras mounted at a surgeon's view to track reusable markers on a patient. This allows for accurate, real-time navigation guidance at the point-of-care. This system eliminates pre-operative imaging and streamlines the surgical process, reducing costs in comparison to traditional robotic systems. The proprietary augmented-reality eyepiece combines stereo tracking cameras and a 3D AR screen, all powered by high-performance mobile processors. This allows surgeons to focus on the patient, without having to divert attention to external monitors. ARVIS is operated by gaze and voice control, minimizing line-of-sight problems and integrating seamlessly into the surgical workflow.
