Description

Flagsmith gives software engineering teams a self-hosted or fully managed feature flagging platform for controlling releases across web, mobile, and backend systems. Ship code behind a flag, then decide who sees it — by environment, user, or custom segment — without redeploying. Run Flagsmith however fits your infrastructure: our managed cloud, your own private cloud, or fully on-premise. What you get: Progressive rollouts with one-click rollback if something breaks Live config changes — flip features on or off instantly, no redeploy required Segment-based A/B and multivariate testing Project and role-based access control for multi-team organizations Native integrations with the tools already in your stack MCP support and a CLI so AI agents and scripts can manage flags directly Open source at its core, Flagsmith is built for teams that want control over where their configuration data lives.

Product Features

AB Testing

Flagsmith serves as the experiment bucketing engine, allowing you to maintain your existing analytics setup seamlessly. With Flagsmith, you can create a multivariate flag and assign percentage weights to different variants, enabling deterministic traffic distribution. Bucketing occurs on an individual basis, ensuring that each user consistently receives the same variant until you choose to adjust the weights. Target specific user groups for your tests using segments, whether based on subscription tiers, geographic regions, or early access beta groups. This same feature can be leveraged for beta programs to gather initial feedback. Importantly, Flagsmith does not track events or analyze significance. Instead, simply forward the variant name to your preferred analytics platform. It integrates effortlessly with tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Heap, and Rudderstack, or you can connect it to your own data pipeline via webhooks. This consolidates your metrics into a single source of truth. Whether you utilize our cloud services, your private cloud, or an on-premise setup, Flagsmith delivers consistent performance.

Feature Management

Implement a feature toggle, deploy the code, and determine visibility later on. Each environment can have the same toggle configured with different states, eliminating the need for redeployment to alter behavior in the live environment. The targeting options encompass boolean toggles, multivariate toggles, remote configuration values, user identities with attributes, segments created from rules based on those attributes, and percentage-based rollouts for canary deployments. For evaluation purposes, Flagsmith provides server-side SDKs that operate in local evaluation mode, allowing flags to be resolved within the process without the need for a network call for each check. The Edge API delivers client and mobile SDKs from the nearest geographic location. Offline mode is available for environments lacking outbound connectivity. There are over 15 open-source SDKs available, including those for TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, Go, Ruby, PHP, Swift, Kotlin, and Flutter. Governance capabilities feature audit logs, role-based access management, approval workflows for change requests, scheduled updates, SAML SSO, and SCIM provisioning. Automation can be achieved through the REST API and Terraform integration.
