Postico serves as a user-friendly database client that allows users to connect to a local PostgreSQL server hosted on their Mac or to remote servers on different machines. For those looking to set up a local PostgreSQL server on their Mac, Postgres.app is highly recommended as it efficiently initiates a PostgreSQL server locally. Upon its first launch, Postgres.app automatically generates a new data directory and sets up an empty database, swiftly getting the server ready to accept connections.
