Description
Copperhead is a collaborative open-source AI platform aimed at aiding hardware teams in the design, validation, and production of circuit boards. By simply detailing a modification or submitting a product brief, users can prompt the agent to make precise edits to actual KiCad files, revise any related documentation, and perform KiCad's built-in checks until all pass successfully. The comprehensive workflow encompasses various stages, including specification, architecture, component selection, schematic design, layout, output generation, firmware creation, and development strategy, ensuring that each phase produces a tangible artifact on disk before progressing. Validation gates check for budget adherence, logical subsystem analysis, datasheet-supported component numbers, ERC-compliant schematics, DRC-compliant layouts, generated Gerber files, firmware source code, and comprehensive bring-up plans. Additionally, Copperhead is equipped to handle modifications for existing boards: users can direct it to a KiCad repository, start the project, and request specific changes. The edits made are targeted adjustments to KiCad source files, ensuring that changes are minimal and easily reviewable while leaving other sections intact. This approach allows for a streamlined revision process that minimizes disruption to the overall project.
