LibreCAD is an open-source CAD software available for Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms without any cost. Due to QCad CE being built on the outdated Qt3 library, a port to Qt4 was necessary before further improvements could be made, leading to the temporary creation of CADuntu. However, after a brief period, the community concluded that the name was not suitable and engaged in discussions to find a more fitting title, resulting in the adoption of LibreCAD. The transition of the rendering engine to Qt4 was a significant undertaking, and as a result, LibreCAD initially relied on the Qt3 support library. Ultimately, this port was completed during the development of the 2.0.0 series, thanks to the efforts of our chief developer, Rallaz, marking LibreCAD's evolution towards being completely independent of Qt3, except for the 1.0.0 series.
