Submission + - Singing a song = 20 years in jail 2

Ihmhi writes: "Evan Emory got permission to play an innocent song in front of a classroom full of children. He then recorded a much different song with sexually explicit material in the empty classroom, and edited a video together to make it appear that he's singing quite the perverted song to a bunch of kids. Putting it on YouTube may have been poor taste, but does he deserve 20 years in jail?"

Submission + - Why are mobile plans so expensive in the US? (att.com) 4

Bantak writes: "I live in Europe, Austria to be exact. Last year I have been on vacation to Florida. I considered getting prepaid mobile broadband to use Google Maps and check mails. But when I saw the plans, I instantly revoked this idea.

Here is why:
On AT&T you pay $69.99/month for an unlimited voice plan plus $25.00/month for a 2GB data plan.
In Austria you can get a plan with 2010 minutes, 1000 SMS and 2GB per month for 25€ ($34) on Orange.

On Verizon you pay $50 for 1GB of mobile data with a prepaid plan. In Austria you get 1GB for as low as 4€ ($5.50).

Why is there such a huge difference between USA and Europe?"

Xbox 360 Updates Social Features, Back Compat 112

Microsoft is gearing up for another big update to Xbox Live, and soon they'll be offering a friend of a friend feature that will allow users to peruse their friends' friend lists. It's a voluntary service, and is gated by your age to avoid any parental fears. If you'd rather turn it off ahead of time, they already have a dedicated site set up for that purpose. (Gamertag login required.) That update will be dropping on December 4th. Relatedly, they're also rolling out a whole bunch of new backwards compatability options for your old Xbox games. Highlights include support for: Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, Indiana Jones And The Emperors Tomb, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Syberia II, The Bard's Tale, Worms 3D. There's also support for a slew of sports titles going all the way back to 2003.
It's funny. Laugh.

Submission + - Why You Feel Like Less of a Man Once You Marry

theodp writes: "Just in case you haven't picked up this month's Current Anthropology, it's official — getting married saps your testosterone. After measuring testosterone in 205 Ariaal men in Kenya, researchers found that those with one wife had lower levels of the hormone than unmarried men, and men with more than one wife had the lowest levels of all. 'Testosterone levels are lower among married men probably because they are investing less in mating effort,' said Peter Gray of the UNLV. Ball Finder, anyone?"
