Journal Journal: Disavowing Fidel Castro, anyone? 3

Is not his death — so symbolic of the world-wide decline of Leftism — a great opportunity for TV-anchors and other journalists to demand, the various politicians (from Obama all the way down to "progressive" mayors) and other celebrities (such as Mr. Kaepernick) disavow the late tyrant and the oppressive regime he created?

And, when they do it, grill them over not being sufficiently enthusiastic about it and waiting too long?

Journal Journal: Who could possibly defend taxis from Uber-like companies? 3

Suppose for a second, a scientific breakthrough comes up with a pill or a procedure, which prevents humans from ever falling sick. Will we be seriously listening to people arguing, it should not be made available, because its introduction would put doctors and hospitals out of business?

Journal Journal: Fuck implicitly endorsing racist communities. I'm out 6

I have no more tolerance for the bigoted fucks on slashdot.
I lived through dice and beta.
I didn't mind the things I saw as advertisements.
I had my fair share of debates I learned something from.

But the level of tolerance of racism and sexism on the part of slashdot users has gotten to be just too much. There's a level of shitty user base I just can't stand. At this point, with all the neo-misogynists and racial realists, and the widespread tolerance and endorsement of their positions by moderators, I can't see this being a community with meaningful insight anymore.

I'm sure none of those shitty people will be sorry to see me leave.

Journal Journal: Would a boycott of dice.com help? 1

Dice holdings gets most of its money through its main website, and the employees they can provide. Would it help convince them we're serious if we boycott this site next time we need a job?

Journal Journal: Democracy in the Digital Age

There is an inherit problem with democracy. Two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner, inevitably leaves the sheep in a continual state of wanting. However the distribution means of information this characteristic of majority rule will be prevalent in any democratic society. Most obviously the cure is the American solution of representative democracy. This leads to other inherit problems. 5 wolves voting on what to eat for 100 sheep. What is the place of Democracy in the Digital/Information Age?

TODO: Points to address.
blogs. social networking. anonymous. information. digital psychology and its impacts on the political landscape. re-evaluation of individual liberty, at least in regards to the refinment and discussion ( how do you know someone's race, gender, orientation in text that does not explicitly state) an advocate of gay marriage may not be gay.

Journal Journal: Lisa and Nasa/ Esa

By 2013 the we could find out whether gravity from blackholes eating matter can produced graviton waves. The upside of the Lisa project is that it is a cooperation between Nasa and the European Space Agency. But could the project also be capable of finding more than just that which it was designed to do? Are there other forms of waves that travel trough space at extremely long wave lengths? Could there be other forms of waves or EMR that we cannot yet detect?

Journal Journal: Friends and Freaks 3

For those that think that adding my as a foe is a good thing, I smile at their foolishness. I just add them to my friends list.

Two more this month have fallen into this little quirk of mine. I never much figured out why people "hate" others enough to be bothered to actually put them on a Foe List.

Love you guys. ;-)

To the few people that have added me as Friends recently, thank you. I know it isn't much, but it is all I have to offer. Please don't feel diminished by the fact that I also add my freaks as my friends, as that is in no way a reflection of who you are.

To everyone else...... HI

Journal Journal: Textbooks

I have long been trying to advocate community based text books, using the Creative Commons type license. Imagine the combined intellect of all the worlds teachers contributing to a systematic learning collection of textbooks.

I am positive that the books would be much cheaper to produce. And as a bonus each student would be able to write notes( in them ) and keep the text for as long as needed. Perhaps even giving each student the entire course on a CD, to help prevent DeadTree versions.

It would prevent both Right wing and Left wing people from undue influence in the material, and the long term ability to cross check facts and provide alternate viewpoints.

I am not sure how this would play out with the teacher's unions and the school districts though

United States

Journal Journal: Democratic Con

WHY would the Democrats put Jimmy Carter up criticizing Bush's record? He sure didn't do a good job when HE had the chance.

In fact, If I recall the economy of Jimmy Carter was called Stagflation. High Unemployement, High interest, high taxes, no growth economy under his watch.

In fact, Militant Islam got a foothold in Iran under his watch. In fact, terrorism got a foot hold under his watch. Remember the Iranian hostage crisis? Remember the botched attempt at a rescue.

In fact, the moral of the US was much worse when HE was president. Why anyone would listen to him is beyond me.

Thought it was interesting conceptwise. That was, until I realized that the membership was secret to start with. To join, you must be invited, to be invited, you must know someone who has joined, to know who has joined you must be a member, a form of catch-22.

Then I realized all it takes is one bastard to ruin the whole "Trusted Network of friends. I then understood that the whole idea would be broken in a matter of days.

What a bunch of elitist morons. Hey wait, that is redundant.
