Submission + - South Korean newspaper website hacked after military threats by North Korea (theage.com.au)

psiclops writes: A conservative South Korean newspaper says it has been the victim of a major cyber attack, less than a week after North Korea threatened the paper and other Seoul media over their reports.

On June 4, in response to critical coverage of a mass children's event in Pyonang. North Korea's military threatened attacks on the offices of South Korean Media outlets — listing the co-ordinates and advising missile units and other forces had targeted the buildings. No threat was made of a possible cyber-attack; however, Soul believes its northern neighbor has carried out several such attacks in the past.

Anybody attempting to access the site instead recieved a picture of a white cat and the statement "Hacked by IsOne" with suggestions more media sites would be targeted on the 19th and 29th.

S.Korea have recently claimed N.Korea to have the worlds third most powerful cyberwar capabilities
