Submission + - U.S. Color-Coded Alert System Could Disappear

prakslash writes: "The Obama administration has begun a review that could spell the end of the color-coded terror alert system created in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The five-tier system that goes from green, signaling a low danger of attack, to red, signaling a severe threat of attack, has long been criticized for being vague and ineffective. It was also portrayed by some Democrats as a tool used by Bush administration for political manipulation. As part of its review, the Homeland Security Department is inviting public comments on the system via e-mail."
