otenki writes: "Several news agencies are reporting that CEO and chairman of Micron Technology Steve Appleton has died in a plane crash at the Boise airport. Appleton, a professional stunt plane pilot, was piloting an experimental fixed-wing single engine plane known as a Lancair. According to an Ada County dispatch the plane was on fire before it landed. Lancair's have gained the attention of the NTSB and the FAA in recent years due to safety concerns and higher than average fatal accident rates. Appleton began working at Micron in 1983 and worked his way up from the factory floor to the CEO position which he gained in 2007. He was 51 years of age. Shares of Boise-based Micron Technology were halted Friday afternoon pending the announcement."
