Submission + - Lenovo To Ship A 23-inch Tablet This Year (techspot.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Lenovo is building a 23-inch tablet, and it's likely to arrive before the end of this year. Speaking at this year's Gadget Show Live, William Cai, senior specialist in marketing for Lenovo, said he believes there is a problem with multiple screens in the home, and a larger tablet could help solve it.

"We think that there is potential for a 23-inch tablet," Cai said. "We'd have to take care of battery life and we are working to get the weight down. It's obviously not for full mobility use, but it could be moved from room to room in the house and used with a full keyboard, or as a television. Or you could lay it on a table top and use it for family games. We're hoping that we can launch it later this year."

Submission + - Water Striders: Give Me Sex Or I'll Call Predators (discovermagazine.com)

An anonymous reader writes: If you want to see some sex, violence and blackmail, don’t bother with soap operas – try looking at the surface of your local lake or stream. There, you’ll find small insects called water striders (or pond skaters), skimming across the water on outstretched legs. These legs can pick up the vibrations of prey, predators and mates, but they can also produce vibrations by tapping the water surface. And males use this ability to blackmail their way into sex. It’s a drama of sexual tension played out across the surface tension.

Submission + - Lost in Translation: 10 Funny Foreign Tech Ads (itworld.com)

itwbennett writes: Tech ads in the U.S. are sometimes baffling (if you don't know what Droid is, you're certainly not going to figure it out from this ad). But, hey, at least we understand the language. Take a tour of foreign tech ads though, and you'll find a whole different breed of funny — sometimes by design, sometimes in a more accidental way. Sure you have your standard fare of ads for Windows and various cell phones, but you also have Snoop Dog in a fridge, piss in the pool, and a bevy of maniacal mustachioed Marios.
