Submission + - The difference between 2D / 3D TV to laypersons 1

insufflate10mg writes: I'm having trouble putting into words the difference between 2D and 3D television. When I try to explain, the response is "Well I can see the sides of peoples faces on TV, it looks 3D," which is true, and I don't know how to explain it. When I try asking to describe the distance between a wall and someone's head, they make a rough estimate and are pretty close to correct. The best way I can explain it is the difference between looking at a screen with video playing and looking through a window at the scene. He understands the difference between monoscopic and stereoscopic vision, and the concept depth perception, but that doesn't help him truly visualize it. I would not be asking on Slashdot if I wasn't really having trouble so any assistance would be appreciated.
