Submission + - Music Distributor Profits from Royalty-Free and Public Domain Works (youtube.com)

dryo writes: "According to Canadian YouTuber Pedaling Prince (John Ardelli), The Orchard Music is spuriously laying claim to royalty-free music, and illegally profiting from the works of others. The YouTube content matching system is being exploited. Orchard Music gets free advertising for every YouTube video they claim matches their content. Users' dispute claims are being systematically declined by Orchard. There is no appeals process, so the alleged copyright holders are acting as judge, jury, and executioner.
