Submission + - REPORT: iPhone 5 Begins Production (ibtimes.com)

redletterdave writes: "Reliable sources from within Apple's foreign supply chain say the company's next-generation smartphone, the iPhone 5, is "gearing up" and ready to begin production. A source from within China's Foxconn manufacturing plant says "various sample devices" of the iPhone 5 are floating around, but there are a number of common features among the prototype phones, including a display that measures at least 4 inches, and a longer and wider form factor that does not match that of the iPhone 4 or 4S. The iPhone 5 will also reportedly feature the same rectangular shape of its predecessors, putting to bed rumors of a thinner teardrop shape. The Foxconn insider did not outline Apple's production timeline, but if Foxconn begins building the phones now, given the five-month lead time usually required to prepare the product, consumers can expect the iPhone 5 to arrive in June or July 2012."

Submission + - Was mega upload crushed to stop mega box? (dslreports.com)

MrShaggy writes: "Our friends at dsl-reports that 'The kicker was Megabox would cater to unsigned artists and allow anyone to sell their creations while allowing the artist to retain 90% of the earnings. Or, artists could even giveaway their songs and would be paid through a service called Megakey. “Yes that’s right, we will pay artists even for free downloads. The Megakey business model has been tested with over a million users and it works,” Kim Dotcom told TorrentFreak in December. Megabox was planning on bypassing the labels, RIAA, and the entire music establishment.'"
