Inspired by that movie moment, concept car designer Frank Rinderknecht designed a scuba diving car using the Lotus Elise as its base. The 1 million ($1,460,000) prototype, can dive to a depth of 10 meters using a battery powered motor. On land, the vehicle can reach speeds of up to 75mph and cruise on the surface at 4mph, and while underwater a tranquil 2mph can be achieved.
In addition to being really cool, the Elise is also a "green" car, as it runs on lithium-ion batteries, hence having zero-emissions. However, there are no plans to put the car into production. The car will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
