Submission + - Apple offered cross licensing deal to Samsung prior to trial in return for FRAND (fosspatents.com) 1

aristotle-dude writes: Apple offered a deal to Samsung but it was rejected. Samsung is asking for 2.4% of the average selling price of each iPhone for each patent whereas Apple was offering to cross licence the LTE patents they acquired from Nortel in exchange for similar rates from Samsung. Isn't 2.4% of the average sale price excessive considering that the majority of the iPhone is really an iPod Touch but with a cellular radio speakers and microphones? Why should Apple have to pay percentages of their entire device?
